So, a couple of weeks ago I blogged about going dental all over the place at the dentist. Well, it happened again--only this time it was the dentist going dental...okay...and maybe a little bit of me.
Last week, as I enjoyed a burrito, some peach salsa and chips--my temporary cap fell off and I unknowingly swallowed it.
There was really no time for me to be engaging in said shenanigans as it truly was the week from hell {the busy-ness of it all astounded me--and my family, my house and my cat, Elvis}.

Needless to say, swallowing a cap wasn't a genius move on my part.
The next morning, I called to make an appt with my dentist. Ascurse the luck would have it, they could squeeze me in right away. Even luckier was that my new porcelain cap was ready to go--so I wouldn't have to deal with another temp.
Now, I wasn't going to tell them what happened to the cap. It definitely wasn't one of my finer moments. But, for some reason when the nice little hygienist asked me what had happened to my temp--I found myself jokingly confessing that I had swallowed it.
"I bet that happens all the time," I said.
"Ummm, no," she answered. "I think you may be the first I've heard of.

"It looks like summer is finally here," she said.
And so it turned to weather.
With the riveting conversation behind us, it was time to prep my tooth for the cap--she cleaned it, dried it, buffed, and slid it on--it fit like an

Then, she called for the dentist. As he walked in the room, he said, "Mix the cement."
Professional that he is, he opted to not try and fit the cap on before cementing it on.
Hygienist applied cement.
Dentist jammed cap onto back tooth...
...and said "bite down on this (big piece of gauze) for the next 5 minutes."
I was feeling pretty proud of myself--because really the only "gone dental" thing I had done was confess to my swallowing of the temp. I didn't have a single outbreak of craziness...
...Until the timer went off and she removed the big piece of gauze I was biting down on.
"Umm...this cap isn't on right," I said.
"Oh, I'm sure it's just the cement settling," theteenager hygienist answered.
"Uh. No. I think he put it on backwards," I answered, worriedly.
She ran out of the room to get the dentist.
Enter, theDr. Kevorkian dentist.
He apologized as he yanked the cap off...had the hygienist prep the tooth again...and this time came in and fitted it before he cemented it.

"Are you numb?" he asked, as he yanked it off again. "These caps can sometimes be tricky."
I thought, "I'll give you tricky." (and no--I wasn't numb).
He added a bit more cement--put the cap on the right direction and left me to set up.
No. "Sorry--I'm an idiot. "
No. "See ya in 6 months."
No. "Wanna free teeth whitening kit?"
Nothing.
I don't know what I expected.
Maybe a referral to
a new dentist?
