Episode 232--Rescue 9-1-1: A Peculiar People

{The following 9-1-1 call is maybe a little embellished real. It is a true story of a dramatic rescue. Whenever possible the actual people involved have helped me reconstruct the events as they happened.}

911 operator: "911 operator what is the nature of your emergency?"

Innocent Passerby: "Umm, I just drove by a church -- and there is a teenager breaking into one of the windows."

911 operator: "We'll dispatch a police officer to the scene of the crime. Thank you for your call."

Innocent Passerby: "Your welcome--just trying to have something to gossip about to my neighbors do my civic duty and all."

911 operator to police station: "We've got a potential 211 at an LDS church building. It appears a teenager is crawling through the window of a church -- possible backup needed."

Police Officers enter the building - armed and ready for whatever they may encounter.

Giggling & talking, mingled with children playing--is heard from the East side of the building.

Police #1 whispers to Police #2: "Proceed with Caution!"

Knock, Knock, Knock - on the nursery room door.

A friendly RS President answers the door.

Police Officer #1: "Ma'am, is everything okay in here? We've had a report of a teenager breaking in through this window."

RS President: "Errrr. Everything is fine. Although, about 30 minutes ago, we did have a 8 year old & 5 year old sneak out of the windows during our scripture class nursery."

Police Officer #1: "We're going to secure the premises just to be sure -- and you really should keep a better eye on your children lock up the building while you have your Relief Society meetings."

As the RS presidency follows the police officer to lock up the open doors, they see not one--not two -- but three (one who happens to be exiting the men's restroom) of Utah's finest protecting and serving a seemingly innocent--yet obviously corrupt--church building. Well done thou good and faithful servants. Well done.

Memo to self: Lock the windows when that kid *Timmy comes to nursery.

*Names have been changed to protect the naughty innocent.

Maybe you should be having your meetings at someone's house from now on. There are way too many rooms in the church to have to find escaping kids. That is funny that the police came and everything. At least your kids weren't to blame so you're clear.
